Mistah Speakahhhhhh..CEE YAH!

Former Mass. Speaker DiMasi's
PAC ordered closed

July 6, 2010

BOSTON—Former Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi is facing new troubles, this time from the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

The agency has ordered the Boston Democrat's political action committee to pay $5,500 in fines and shut down its operations.

The agreement came after an investigation of the committee's records found what the state described as "numerous discrepancies," including failure to disclose about $18,850 in receipts.

DiMasi's lawyer Thomas Kiley said the errors were clerical and were corrected when brought to the committee's attention.

The agency said its review of DiMasi's Committee to Elect a Democratic House also found $1,500 in excess contributions from individuals, $500 in excess contributions from lobbyists, and $2,500 in excess contributions from other political action committees.

DiMasi is awaiting trial on federal corruption charges.

Well, it's too bad the final vestiges of the political career of one of the truly stupid slime ball elected officials in Massachusetts history has had the final stake driven into his sociopath heart. "Sorry, Ex-Mistah Speakah, they took all yer dough!"  Now you don't have a slush fund to play games with anymore. All the chickens, big and small, are going to come home to roost. With no more money to dole out to active pols in this state, he will be washed aside by the system and find out what it's like when you are out of the game. No more power, no more influence, and all your former friends won't give you the time of day.  Especially a local Representative who used to think the sun rose and set in DiMasi's buttocks.

Yes,"the ineffectual one", as far as the City of Fall River is concerned, Rep. Mike Rodrigues, he of the "let them drink BOOZE-FROM NH" fame. You remember that incident, don't you?

Well here are a few pics to remind you!

On an earlier state outing, Rep. Rodrigues loaded the trunk with some of his favorite elixir...but unlike "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", it wasn't Dom Perignon.

Golf  while working hard for us?.....why not?!

Note the NH State Liquor Store
lettering conveniently highlighted by the Boston Herald, with the end of the arrow dangerously close to a certain House members license plate...I wonder if that is a state vehicle too? Oh wait...wasn't this right after a contentious House session where Speakah DiMasi's troops...of which Rodrigues was one...voted to increase the sales tax on booze in MA?
YEPPERS!

Well, enough beating up on poor Mike Rodrigues. I mean, we don't have any pictures of him trying to hustle a bill through the  committee he chaired for his fearless leader DiMasi, a bill that would have made ticket scalping legal, but not for you and I, only for those reputable, entirely honest HUGE TICKET AGENCIES, like Live Nation. If you think you're getting ripped off by paying $200 a pop to see a decent band in concert, imagine if the bill had actually passed and you went to buy "resold" tickets on the day of the event? I guess the fact that the FBI was already sniffing around DiMasi for other violations of the law which eventually got him charges totalling a ridiculous number of possible years, 280, for "extortion", made everyone tell Uncle Sal to stuff it on this one, but NOT our follower of followers, Mike Rodrigues. That's right Mike Rodrigues, push valiantly from behind when leading is dangerous to your legal health. What a Profile In Courage we have on our hands!

Wait...I just can't stop this parade of electoral rogues here! We have another oldy, moldy but goody(?)  traipsing around Fall River gathering votes of every person over the age of 60 that he can. That man is one John Mitchell, former one term Mayor of Fall River. He served one tumultuous term of doing nada, zilch, zippo of note that anyone can recall, but he DID manage a run for federal House of Representatives against current Rep. Jim McGovern. Lucky us that McGovern won.

                 DUDE...you are looking SOOOOO OLLLDDDDD!!!!

In fact, he reminds me of a certain TV character very popular while "Young" John Mitchell was cutting his teeth as a City Councilor - TV Anchorman TED KNIGHT!!

Well....I see the resemblance, don't you?

But wait, there's MORE (there always is on this site!)!

My memory is a bit hazy on this...but I seem to recall....a terrible thing happened...something unspeakable this person did YEARSSSSSSSSSS ago...oh wait...I MEMBAH NOWWWWW!!

It seems that John Mitchell decided to run for Congress. However, before that, while running for Mayor, against a certain current sitting member of the School Committee, he made a "DEAL". That deal was to pay debts for a failed restaurant venture for his opponent for Mayor, Marilyn Rodericks, in exchange for her dropping out of the race. Only problem is, someone found out about it and informed the State Attorney General's Office about the dirty little arrangement. They seemed to know just where to look as well, because they pulled apart the contribution records for John Mitchell and found that money , from contributions, had gone unreported/unrecorded and was used to pay off the his Mayoral opponents debt.  This led to a very fast exit from the primary race for Mitchell, and a McGovern win.

How did I learn about this? It wasn't rocket science. In fact, it's all available online in state archives for anyone to review. It was detailed in the State Attorney General's Summary Report for activity for the Fiscal Year 1996. It details the biggest fine, at the time, for anyone caught by the Public Integrity Division for breaking the rules,  a total of $25,000 for John Mitchell.  Rodericks was also fined, and others as well, with one man actually receiving a jail sentence over the entire mess. It's all detailed for the general public to view, 24/7, 365 days a year. It's not some dirty pool revealing of double secret probation information. The records were not sealed or hidden. They have been available for public inspection for over 14 years! The fine is STILL the #2 largest such fine ever handed out by the AG's Office. John Mitchell...Fall River's John Mitchell...the Fall River John Mitchell that hundreds of very brainwashed  baby boomers have supported in the past. That I just don't get, because it's not like he set the world on fire as mayor when he DID serve. Nope, I just don't get what his likely voters are thinking as he readies his run for the State Senate seat left open by Joan Menard.

Actually, there are still several months before the primary, and the truth will out, I am sure. How could anyone justify voting for a man who readily admits he pretty much broke several laws, which someone did jail time for, in handing over thousands of dollars raised through contributions to prevent someone from running against him. Why John? If she was such a bad manager, shouldn't you have reported the attempted "quid pro quo" and then run against Marilyn Rodericks as someone who couldn't handle a private sector business, so how would she handle a public sector business? Oh...maybe YOU were the one who suggested......I KEED, I KEED....only kidding.....but I think it's funny, the monkey on "Ted Knight Mitchell's" back in the senate primary is this $25,000 fine that he acknowledged way back in FY1996.

SO...as long as I mentioned state senate races, the only local Democrat running with a an unblemished record of accomplishment and commitment in public service is Fire Lt. Mike Coogan, a husband and father, veteran, active in many local civic boards and chosen by his colleagues to represent them as Firefighters Union President, Group Health Insurance Committee Chairman and as Chairman of the Fall River Public Employee Retirement Board. He's a  local guy who has served the City of Fall River for 21 years in one of it's most dangerous jobs, who leads and who stands up for what's right. Yes, he's aligned a little too close to Mayor Flanagan to suit me, but I truly believe that Mike Coogan will be his own man if elected....

And he's no where near a suspect lineup! :-)
